"Vacaciones" is a short film that talks about death and family, but from the point of view of an old Christian woman. Life after death, paradise, her lifelong love.

"Vacaciones" was born out of a question:
If according to Christianity there is life after death,

why is it that we marry until death do us part?

 

After..what..

To which I reply:
If the afterlife exists, I want to continue with it.

 

Every detail counts, nothing is random, from the moment María hangs up her apron as the load she leaves on the ground, just as a footballer who hangs up his boots; the light given off by the corridor where Salvador comes from; or even that trip to the Canary Islands, the place our grandparents considered to be a paradise on earth.

For the sound part, in addition to buying two songs, we’ve had the composer Jesús Flores, who with the piano has given the film a touch of tension and romanticism.

On February the 4th, as if by magic, this short film came to my mind. In a flash, I summarized it in a voice note on the iPhone. On the 14th I travelled to Seville to meet the team and tell them what I had in mind. On March the 8th we were already making the final touches of sound and color grading. And this can only be achieved with a team that I can’t be more proud of.
